The vibrant library and technology services of The Mary P. Hastings & Ann K. Wegman Library aim to provide our 21st century student learners and teachers with resources to deepen their knowledge, broaden their horizons, and view the world from different perspectives. 
 
The AQ library is a learning environment conducive to independent study as well as group collaboration. We encourage reading with a wide variety of current and engaging fiction and non-fiction books, book promotions and displays, school-wide reading activities, and of course working closely with teachers to provide resources for instruction. Students are always welcome during the school day to check out books from our extensive collection to explore a new place or time, or to learn about the world around us. 
 
Our library provides the following resources:

  • 10,000+ print volumes with extensive, current middle and high school fiction and non-fiction collections
  • A separate area with books for middle school students at their reading level 
  • 9 NOOK readers 
  • desktop computers
  • 2 computer labs
  • DVD collection for classroom instruction 
  • Digital cameras
  • Access to dozens of electronic resources including:
    • databases
    • TV media outlets
    • newspapers
    • magazines
  • Online Catalog - accessible from home & school that includes access to hundreds of credible educational resources as well as books
  • eBooks - accessible from home & school 

    • Open Mon.-Fri., 7 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Aquinas Librarian, Julie Melton, is a New York state certified school library media specialist with a master's degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Buffalo. Her past experience includes working as a law firm librarian and paralegal. She uses her extensive research skills and instructional experience to support a culture of learning by connecting students and teachers with a variety of reading and digital literacies.
